Virginia VINE Coverage in Mathews
Virginia Jail VINE is the main notification channel for a Mathews County detainee held at Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center. MPRSC is in Saluda and serves five member jurisdictions, including Mathews. VINE receives custody data from participating agencies. It can report a local-jail event such as release, transfer, death, escape, or return to custody. Release, transfer, escape, death, and return are different events. An escape is not a lawful release. Death ends custody but is not community release. Register Mathews Release Notifications

Separate Mathews Custody Alert Systems
The Virginia VINE workflow treats Jail VINE and VADOC notification as separate systems. This distinction is crucial for Mathews County. MPRSC can report that a person was released or transferred from the regional jail, yet the destination may be a VADOC institution. That person left MPRSC but did not leave custody.
When a person transfers into VADOC, an eligible victim must register through VADOC's separate notification process. The VADOC Victim Services notification program is not a general-public locator. A later return from VADOC to a local or regional jail can require a new Jail VINE registration. Virginia State Police registry notification is separate again and applies only to a person with a legal registry duty. The registry is not a general released-inmate list.
VADOC Victim Services uses its NAAVI process for people who meet the program's eligibility rules. Staff can be reached at 1-800-560-4292 or 804-674-3243, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. That office can explain notification eligibility, but it should not be used as a substitute for the general public locator. VADOC describes an advance-release notice as an anticipated date that is often sent about 30 days ahead and may change. A later release notice means the person is no longer in VADOC custody, though probation, parole, or another authority's custody may follow.
The Virginia State Police Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry is narrower still. It applies only when a person has a legal duty to register. Presence can confirm the published registry status and fields, but it does not establish the date MPRSC released the person. Absence does not say that a person remains in jail, because most released people have no registry duty at all.
Note: Re-register after a custody-system change when the official workflow requires it; an old alert enrollment may not follow the person.
Check Mathews Release Alert Limits
VINELink does not cover every custody path. A Mathews case may move into state, federal, immigration, or another local jurisdiction.
